IPSC Section Report for September 2009
September has been another busy month within the IPSC Section with very good attendances on both Wednesday nights and Sunday club day’s. As daylight saving has come into effect, we will be able to extend the shooting longer on Wednesday nights.
There is still a lot of new member interest, but to date we haven’t seen any of this interest leading to a major jump in applications for club membership.
Certification of Ranges 8 & 9After several working bee’s we have now got Ranges 8 & 9 up to a level that we believe will see them re-certified. All the paperwork has now been forward to Pistol NZ, and we now we are just waiting for the Range Inspectors to do their work.
Can I also remind all shooters not to drive on Ranges 8 & 9

, as the range floors are still too soft to support the weight of vehicles. All you are achieving is undoing all the hard work that has been done to get these ranges up and running.
The Use of Club Pistols & Suitable HolstersOver the past few months there have been several cases of club pistols being left un-attended, not only in the safety zone but also on range tables –
Please do not leave pistols unattended. I would like to remind all shooters that club pistols can only be shot from a suitable holster, and not from the box. In the past this rule has not been enforced too strictly, but with the numbers of shooters that we are experiencing it now needs to be followed.
There has been a lot of confusion regarding holsters - what is acceptable and what is not, where to get holsters from and what are the best for the club pistols. To clear up this matter the club has purchased suitable Fobus Holster and Mag Pouch sets which are available for sale @ $90.00 a set.
IPSC TeamThe IPSC Team continues to meet once a month to discuss and work through what is going to happen within the section for the coming month. It is due to all the behind the scenes work of these guy’s that lets us have such successful mini-matches.
The Saturday before every mini-match you will find these guy’s at the range designing and setting up the matches. If you are interested in helping or just would like to see what happens to get a match organised, feel free to pop out after 1pm on the Saturday prior to a mini-match.
September Mini-MatchOn Sunday 20th September the IPSC Section staged another successful mini-match. It comprised of four challenging pistol stages in the morning finishing with a BBQ lunch.
We again had a very impressive turn out with 25 members of the IPSC Section turning up for the morning’s competition.

Special thanks again to Richard S and Sean G for the fun filled design of this month’s stages. The blind stage that Richard setup was a hit with everyone who shot it. It was a difficult challenge to shoot targets when you don’t know where they are. It was fun to see the many different ways the people shot that stage.
Thanks again to Mike S and Dave H of the IPSC Team for their tireless work on the setup of the September Mini-Match. Thanks to Patrick M, one of the newer members to the IPSC section who also helped out again with this months mini-match setup.
I would especially like to thank Rhonda G for all her efforts scoring the match and to Rhonda and Steve B for their assistance with the BBQ.
The results from the September Mini-Match are:
Open Grade 1st Chris R 2nd Gavin M 3rd Rod M
Standard Grade 1st Sean G 2nd Richard S 3rd John M
Revolver Grade 1st Kevin W 2nd Peter L 3rd No Placing
Production Grade 1st Aaron C 2nd Sean M 3rd Mike S
