November Report
It’s great to see so many cars at the ISSF section every Sunday now. Plenty of new shooters having a go which is fantastic. Cheryl and Michael have been busy working with the Junior Air Pistol shooters, who I might add performed admirably at the recent Secondary Schools Competition – Well done. See the Bullshooter for more info.
ISSF South Island’s are being held over Show Weekend with strong entries from the North Island and even one coming all the way from Australia. Sounds like it will be a great competition. There are strong black powder category entries too although there’s always room to squeeze a few CAS or other shooters in the BP cartridge matches. Ranges one through four will be closed for casual shooting during the competition.
The IPSC team hosted the Club Champs on 8th Nov. A well attended shoot with six challenging stages. My humblest apologies for shooting the wire the moving targets ran down… It’s great to see the stages Aaron, Gavin, Richard and the rest of the IPSC team are creating. These guys work bloody hard before each match to set everything up and are generating increasing interest and better competitors. We’ll kick off 3 Gun type events again in the new year at Motunau so keep your eye on the calendar. The PNZ IPSC Pistol Nationals are being held in Rotorua over Show weekend. We have a strong contingent from many grade levels heading up for three days of fun.
Range 8 & 9 application has survived peer review and is now going through PNZ then Police HQ
I’d like to welcome Brian McVicar on to the committee representing the CAS section.
In the FYI category, The Deerstalkers will be building clubrooms over on their part of the range complex starting in the next few months. You can see an area they have scraped clear if you’re curious as to the location.
You may have noticed the new sign at the Range entrance? It’s partially funded by ECAN in their continuing efforts to develop the Mcleans Island and Waimak park areas. You’ll notice signs in the area in a similar theme. The trail bike riders across the road will be moved further out in the future and more cycle tracks and walkways going in. Myself & Canterbury Shooting Federation has been keeping our shooting interests on ECAN’s radar!
