3 Gun Section Report for January 2010

Overview

January has seen the start of the 3 Gun Match schedule at the Motunau Ranges.
Special thanks must go to Jayson and Kerry for again allowing us to hold the clubs 3 Gun Matches on their property.  
The exciting thing about a 3 Gun Match is that you get to shoot three very different firearms at a variety of different targets over varying ranges. You can go from shooting a shotgun stage which is shot from 10 metres at falling plates to a rifle stage shot out over distances of 100-200 meters onto paper targets.

This is what makes 3 Gun a challenging discipline, you rarely shoot the same way twice.

January 2010 – 3 Gun Match

On Sunday 10th January the 3 Gun Section held its first match for the year at the Motunau Ranges. The match consisted of two stages of pistol, Shotgun and Rifle.
It was great to see such a large number of club members showing up for this first match. The final count on the day was 18 competitors split over Open, Standard and Tactical Grades.

Thanks to Sean, Dave and Jayson for their assistance setting up the stages on the Saturday before the match. It is always difficult to get these matches setup and it is only because of the willingness of people to give up their time on the Saturday before that we can have a match ready for the Sunday.

I would again like to thank Rhonda for all her efforts scoring the match, your continued assistance is much appreciated especially with the more complex scoring that is required for 3 Gun Matches.

I would like to pass on my congratulations to all who shot the match.
