May's Roundup

:Cowboy2: The Monthly Roundup from the CAS Posse  :Cowboy2:

Another month has passed within the CAS section. The most memorable event being the CPC CAS shoot held on Sunday May the 23rd. We had a turn out of 15 shooters. Not bad for our section. Two shooters came up from Ashburton which added some incentive for our members to shoot a little faster and straighter, as last year the top shooter award was carried South by Witch Doctor.

The same venerable gentleman showed up to return the trophy and defend it. He had been warned if he won it again that a lynching was highly likely!!!

The shoot went well, everyone pulled together to make the day a success.

My thanks to Ellemay and Shelliejector [Julie H and Helen P] who did a tremendous job of preparing the sumptuous feast at lunch time. Lamb chops with salad in burger buns. Eat your heart out shooters, us cowboys know how to eat.

Results

The biggest section was Rangers (over 60) with 5 shooters and won by Buckshot [David K]

Black Powder (a new category) was supported by 4 shooters and won by Horrible [Mike H]

Cowboy category (35-59) was won by Witch Doctor [Bob Mac of Ashburton] 3 shooters took part in this one

Junior Cowboy was supported by 2 shooters and won by Fireball [Ben Mc]

Junior Cowgirl was won by Kaimanawa Kid [Zoe Mc]

Top Female shooter overall was Kaimanawa Kid

And once again much to our chargin top male shooter went to that sidewinder from Ashburton Witch Doctor!!!!  :cowboy:

Being the true sports that we are and not wanting to mess up our range we let him go without a hangin.

The next major event on our calendar is a RO1 and RO2 course along with Holster Qual courses at Ashburton on the 26th and 27th of June .It is hoped that many of our members will take this opportunity to become qualified RO’s to take the pressure off some of our overworked older members.

Howdy
Just to add to that  the older  RO's are welcome to sit in on the  RO training   to get up to speed   with  changes  ..

these training days  are  hopefully  going to be held  every year or 2 yearly  so it's  a good chance to   tidy  up a few things   all  during one weekend   ..

there is also a small shoot  after the training on sunday  should be finshed by 3 pm ..
