IPSC Section Report for March 2010
OverviewMarch is one of the busiest months for the IPSC Section with not only our clubs mini-match but also the South Island Championships being held.
A working bee was held on Sunday 14th March and it was pleasing to see such a large number of members turning up to help out. I would like to thank all those who helped. We were able to get a lot of jobs done and the ranges are looking great.
We continue to have good attendances on both Wednesday nights and Sunday club days.
As you may have noticed we have been leaving up the stages from the previous months mini-matches on Ranges 6 & 7. We have done this so those of you who have missed the mini-match will have a chance to shoot the stages in the following weekends.
Mini-Match SetupWe are still in need of helpers to setup the monthly mini-matches. If you are interested in helping or just would like to see what happens, feel free to pop out after 1pm on the Saturday prior to a mini-match, or talk to me.
Range SafetyA quick note to remind everyone that range safety must be paramount. It's important to remember that the rules and procedures that the club has in place are there for our protection.
On this note I would like to remind all IPSC members of a couple of range safety rules each month so it keeps it fresh in your minds.
# 1 Please remember that live ammunition
cannot be handled within the safety zone, so this means that magazines cannot be reloaded here.
# 2 Pistols cannot be removed from your holster unless it is within the safety zone or after the “Load and make ready” command has been given by the Range Officer.
IPSC Section “Most Improved Shooter”Congratulations to Mike G who is the IPSC Section's “Most Improved Shooter” He is the second recipient of the CZ75 ST IPSC Standard in 40 S&W and other associated equipment, which he will get to use for the next 6 months.
I look forward to seeing Mike's continued improvement over the coming months and hope he gets good use out of the CZ75. From what I saw at the March mini-match I believe he will, the only problem will be getting it back off him.
We will also be keeping an eye on the rest of the shooters to see who will be in contention for the next award which will be up for contention in the later part of the year.
IPSC South Island Champs 2010The Pistol NZ Practical (IPSC) - South Island Championships for 2010 where held over the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March at the Otago Pistol Club in Dunedin.

I would like to thank the Otago Pistol Club for hosting the 2010 IPSC South Island Championships. Darren and his team put on a great match. The stage design was varied and challenging with the emphasis on getting the shooter to make the best decisions to get through the stage.
The Otago Pistol Club has indicated that they will host next years South Islands Championships (5th & 6th March 2011) and I would encourage all IPSC Section members to come along and compete.
These competitions are pretty much like the mini-matches that we run each month. The only difference is that there are more people shooting and more stages to shoot.
