Not sure if that's on the "production" approved list?

I think it's time you for to google "Strayer Voigt Infinity"

Yes I'm resisting the urge to flame SIG's   :ipscrocks:

sig 229 only has a 3.9" barrel so is not legal here. Maybe on a "C".

David,

You might notice that only one CPC member has a SIG of any kind, and he's ex services.  For a whole raft of reasons they are not really suitable for IPSC competition, some of those reasons might be  -- high slide making recoil vicious, internal complexity, long hard and unadjustable trigger pull.   Have a try of a CZ SP01 first.   There are some defensive / services pistols that work for IPSC, and SIG and H&K (and a few others) don't make those types.

In 9mm it is very hard to control, in .357 or .40 it would be a nightmare.

Gun City had a 226 Blackwater, they wanted $3000 for it. You could have had it for $2500 probably. They had an ordinary 226 for $1400.

Cheers

I love SIG's marketing department, nothing to do with reality - "SRT" Short reset trigger, my arse.
It should be "LAT" - Long awful trigger  :rotflmao:

Your just trying to stifle my love affair ;)

El Prez and Cosmik de Bris you are right the barrel length does screw me over by 1/10th of an inch :( And not so keen on the 1911 style.

Gavin. I agree however because I am still so new to the 'drug' all I've got to go on is the looks. And to me the sig is just beautiful. I'm not sure how many other shooters are behind me when I say the space age looking firearms that some people have just don't do it for me. It makes me think of the single shot ISSP pistols with them funny moulded grips. I'm sorry but its the service style for me. Anyway at this early stage I'm pretty sure most guns would out shoot me and not the other way around :)

Cosmik de Bris and Brit bloke, I better get saving then;)

Also I found this while looking:quote "SIG SAUER, in conjunction with the USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association)"

I suggest trying lots of different pistols before you hand over your hard earned cash. I've seen the disappointment on new shooters many times before.

SIG's look(are) sooo top heavy to me. The barrel is miles above where your grip is making them all unergonomic and clunky. Good for grunts to club the enemy with I guess  :) They make a girlie 9mm in minor feel like a full house 45ACP because the barrel gets so much leverage on your hand.

Could I suggest it's a bit like drinking wine, your taste will develop with experience. Drink lots  :haha:

Good advice.   When nobody, and I mean nobody, uses a gun, there's probably a good reason.  All the experienced shooters have learnt that looks are sort of OK, but works is everything.

Prez is right, Sigs are top heavy. You want to look at a CZ75 SP01 Shadow. Hard to beat as a production gun. Or a Glock 17. The Glock will do everything you want out of the box, and won't miss a beat.
