Your right the Glock 17 does shoot very nice and they are fairly cheap. Lots of bang for your buck as they say.
Gun City have a CZ75 for $1500 and Glocks from around $700. With a new baby it's no doubt going to be the cheaper option.
As for reliability, I couldn't possibly comment. :) Just ask Aaron about my first ever IPSC stage  :wires: put it this way. I'll be doing a working bees for a while!
Speaking about buying guns, here is a question for you guys.

Would the club consider purchasing a firearm on behalf of a new member? It would be kept the same as a club gun but would be used/adjusted by that person and would be handed when they receive their B Cat. I know its probably a pain for the club but they could charge a fee of some sort? Whats the legality of such a transaction? An even more crazy idea would be the poorer members (like myself) chip in and purchase a firearm between them?

Beware the different CZ SP01 models - GC have the Phantom at the price you mention but the one you need is the Shadow which is more expensive and worth it.
Like Kiwibanger says, Glocks are rather effective and well priced too.

David,

You might notice that only one CPC member has a SIG of any kind, and he's ex services.  For a whole raft of reasons they are not really suitable for IPSC competition, some of those reasons might be  -- high slide making recoil vicious, internal complexity, long hard and unadjustable trigger pull.   Have a try of a CZ SP01 first.   There are some defensive / services pistols that work for IPSC, and SIG and H&K (and a few others) don't make those types.

In 9mm it is very hard to control, in .357 or .40 it would be a nightmare.
Make that 2 :)
I love my sig, and looking foward to my glock :):)

Good advice guys. Thanks.
I don't think trying lots of different guns will be too painful  :bangbang:
No probs having a shoot with my Sig226, if you see me on the range just holla.

Cheers - Dave
