Range 8 safe operation rules
« on: 01 October, 2010, 08:44:42 am »
CAS shooting has been moved onto the "new" range 8 to enable work to be done on the old range for re-certification.

Using range 8 with its dirt berms is slightly different to the old range and requires the following additional care when using it;

PLEASE DON'T SHOOT THE BLUE DRUMS RETAINING THE BERM

PLEASE DON'T REPEATEDLY SHOOT INTO THE EARTH BERM AS IT ERODES AWAY - PLACE A BLUE BULLET CATCHER DRUM BEHIND YOUR TARGET TO SAVE THE BERM.

WE WILL TRIAL USING .22 PISTOLS AND CARBINES ON THIS RANGE ONLY. PLEASE USE HIGH VELOCITY AMMO SO IT GETS INTO THE BULLET CATCHER DRUMS. IF THERE ARE REPORTS OF PROJECTILES ESCAPING THIS WILL HAVE TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL FOR ALL OF US WHO WANT TO USE OUR .22'S

We have to make a lot more of the lightweight style blue bullet catcher drums. We have figured an easier way of making these but it's still chopping up approx 25 tyres to make one drum. If you could plan on taking 20 mins to help make one on each visit to the range, it would really be greatly appreciated, training is available  :)

Full copys of Range Standing Orders and Local Rules are attached for your info.

Thanks

Sean
