Permit to Carry for Day shoot clarified
« on: 14 May, 2009, 09:44:14 pm »
After various discussions (and conflicting opinions) at CPC regarding the requirement to obtain a permit to carry a pistol to another club FOR A DAY SHOOT only, I have had it confirmed by AO Jason Bruce / Dick Pettit that a Permit to Carry is not required.

This applies to call clubs (not just CPC visiting Ashburton).

However, should the trip involve staying over then permit to carry must be obtained (as we all knew).

I'm hoping to get this in writting too (via email).

Hi ya
unless the shooters hand book has been updated   off the PNZ site ..shooters handbook 2004

CARRYING A PISTOL
When a member with a B endorsement wishes to take a pistol to an approved range, to the
Police station, or to a dealer or gunsmith (these are the restrictions imposed on a licence
holder) it must be carried in a stout, locked container. At the range the pistol must at all
times be under the control of the owner unless handed to the club armourer. A permit to
carry should be obtained from Police if the pistol is to be away from its usual security overnight..

I have heard  it  as if away from  usual  security   for more than 24 hours   you need a  permit  to carry  ..

eather way unless there has been a law  change     it reads as  a day shoot  at ash  ect ,   if not staying overnight    then  a permit  to carry  is not  needed

catch ya
