For those who don’t know what 3 Gun is about, let’s have a quick look at it;
3 Gun, means IPSC type matches shot with pistols, rifles and shotguns.
The pistol matches are simply IPSC in design so no issues there.
Good rifle matches are a combination of pistol style course short to medium range and some type of long range shooting. Targets are standard IPSC paper and some steel.
Shotgun is close to medium range, usually steel targets and lots of them. Paper is sometime used but only buck shot or slugs are allowed to score, bird shot is a penalty.
There are classes for Standard and Open and more detail can be found on the IPSC web site.
I would like to remind people that I have some very good Training DVD’s from Matt Burkett. Matt Burkett is an US Grand Master shooter and his DVD’s are very good. Matt was in New Zealand in late 2007 and some of us were able to attend a training courses held by him. Some of us also got to be in the same squad with him for the 2007 3 Gun nationals. I most certainly learnt a lot from his wealth of knowledge. These DVD can be hired out from me. Notices are at the range with more details, or come and see me.
