3 Gun Section Report for May 2010
OverviewMay has been one of the busiest months within the 3 Gun Section with the club hosting this year South Island 3 Gun Championships. There has been a lot of work behind the scenes by a few club members to make this event a success and without it this match would have not been possible.
South Island 3 Gun ChampionshipsOn Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May 2010 the Christchurch Pistol Club hosted the South Island 3 Gun Championships at the clubs Motunau Ranges in Greta Valley.
I would like to thank the Kerry & Jayson Prenter for the use of their property for this year’s 3 Gun South Island Championships.
Special thanks to Sean & Rhonda (and the kids), Gavin & Colleen, Tom & Margaret, Chris & Donna, Mike S and Mike G for all the hard work setting up and preparing all that was needed to make this such a successful event. I would also like to thank the squad leaders for all their efforts to keep their squads moving throughout the weekend.
It was a great weekend, with 36 competitors taking part. There were a variety of stages over the three disciplines that where both fun and challenging.
The only downside to the weekend was the limited amount of daylight hours we had available to shoot with and of course the weather on Sunday.
Lying in the mud while it’s pouring with rain and trying to hit a grayish target at 200 meters was a challenge for all.
The club will be looking to host this event again next year, but at an earlier date to make the most of the good weather and daylight hours.
